Taxonomic Comments

As treated here, the Flora of North America (2009) treats Saxifraga hyperborea in a broad sense, including 'flexuosa' material. Kartesz's (1994 and 1999) concept is narrower, including the "flexuosa" material in S. rivularis. S. hyperborea sensu FNA occurs in most western U.S. states and Canadian provinces in addition to occurring in far northern North America.
