Taxonomic Comments
This record represents the broad concept of Solidago altissima following FNA (vol. 20, 2006) and Semple et al. (2015) including S. canadensis var. gilvocanescens of Kartesz (1994, 1999). The Semple et al. (2015) treatment of S. altissima is similar to that of FNA (vol. 20, 2006), but rather than subspecies, varieties are distinguished, and three infrataxa are distinguished rather than two. In addition to S. altissima var. gilvocanescens, Semple et al. (2015) recognizes S. altissima var. pluricephala, which is split from the typical var. altissima.
