Taxonomic Comments
This record is for the narrow treatment of Gentiana saponaria, excluding G. latidens as a distinct species, as recognized by Pringle in FNA (2023, vol. 14). G. latidens has been treated as a variety of G. saponaria (e.g., Kartesz 1999). One additional difference is that Pringle includes Dasystephana latifolia (Chapman) Small (=G. elliottii var. latifolia) here while Kartesz (1999) and Weakley et al. (2024) include that name in G. catesbyi (G. catesbaei).
